Encouraged by an armada of supporters present at the Valenciennes stadium, the Dutch have logically imposed themselves against the Indomitable Lionesses. The Netherlands dominate Cameroon 3-1. The lone Cameroonian goal is signed Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene.
Cameroon complicates their task in Group E. While it was imperative for the Lionesses of Alain Djeumfa to record at least a draw, they suffered their second defeat in competition.
The Oranje harangued by a large audience who came to support them are the first to come forward. They play a notch above and in the 41st minute, Vivianne Miedema opens the scoring. Short-lived joy for the Dutch since two minutes later, Gabrielle Onguene scored the first Cameroonian goal.
1-1 is the half-time score. Despite a relatively correct encounter, the Indomitable Lionesses make a few mistakes that ultimately seal their fate. As soon as they returned from the locker room, Dominique Bloodworth (48 ‘) took advantage of a marking error to give the advantage back to the Netherlands.
The Dutch lead the race even if the team play gets tougher. Vivianne Miedema (85 ‘) removes all illusions in Cameroon thanks to her second goal of the game. The Netherlands won 3-1 and qualified for the round of 16.
Cameroon can still claim a better third place even if the odds are now very slim.
