Kenya won 2-0 against Tanzania on Monday to win the CECAFA Women’s Challenge Cup 2019. This is the first regional trophy for Harambee Starlets of Kenya.
In the Cup final, both teams wanted to score and win. Even though the Kilimanjaro Queens of Tanzania raised the trophy in 2016 and 2018, they did not manage to get out of Kenya to repeat their feat.
Kenya won 2-0 thanks to a brace from Gentrix Shikangwa entering the game in the second half. The attacker also finished top scorer in the competition with 10 goals.
Kenya Goalkeeper Annedy Kundu wins best goaltender award, Omary Mwanahamisi is voted MVP of the tournament while Tanzania wins Fair Play Trophy.
