On Thursday, March 5, 2020, the Indomitable Lionesses faced Zambia in the first leg of the last qualifying round of the Tokyo Olympics. A crazy match dominated by Cameroon 3-2 at the end of the suspense.
A first leg that gave to the lionesses a hard time because the Zambians were in a really competitive spirit.
In the 36th minute Zambia opened the scoring on a goal by Chanda Grace of the Zambian team. It is the same Chanda who led Zambia to beat Cameroon at the Cosafa tournament in South Africa in a group match.
It took a lot of experience, concentration and maturity for Cameroonian women helped by their large audience who came to encourage them to overcome their Zambian counterparts. Thus in the 40th minute Nchout Ajara by a majestic strike on a pass from Colette Ndzana reduced the mark.
Everything will therefore be played in the second half a round which will give cold sweats to the lionesses who scored the 2nd goal by Aboudi Onguéné Gabrielle, the captain, in the 72nd minute saw a second goal a minute later in the 73rd minute (goal scored by Chanda Grâce).
So there was a louder and louder roar from the Queens of the Savannah; on a dribble by Nchout Ajara after a pass from Ngo Back Batoum, the Captain of the Indomitable Lionesses (Aboudi Onguéné Gabrielle) scored Cameroon’s 3rd goal in the 88th minute. The match ends with a score of 3-2 in favor of Cameroon. We will have to wait for the return match in Zambia on March 10 for Cameroon or Zambia to get their ticket to Tokyo.
